Nebraska soldier foundation

In May 2012, Doug was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Soldier Foundation by then Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning.  As one of three Directors, Doug works alongside Mr. Jack Riggins and Mr. Howard Hawks in providing financial assistance to veterans programs aimed at supporting veterans with mental health issues and homelessness.  To date, the Nebraska Soldier Foundation has provided funding to At Ease, Lutheran Family Services, to establish a mental health clinic in North Platte, Nebraska.  In August 2015, the Foundation helped fund an in-house healthcare provider at the CenterPointe transitional housing for veterans. In 2022, the Foundation provided a grant to Saint Francis House in Omaha, NE to fund a veteran's housing assistant aimed at addressing homeless veterans needs in the greater Omaha area. Most recently, in 2023, the Foundation provided grant money to Moving Veterans Forward in Papillion, NE to furnish veteran housing units with complete bed sets.
